Life-Threatening Severe Weather Expected Today- More Than 32 Million at Risk
Residents in the south need to brace for life-threatening storms Sunday afternoon.
A tornado watch has been issued for portions of Texas until 1PM local time.
The Storm Prediction Center has put out a statement with the following concerns being discussed about today’s severe weather potential:
This severe threat ramps up significantly today. The bull’s-eye for the most intense storms appear to be centered over central and east Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana and western Mississippi during Sunday and Sunday night.
The Storm Prediction Center has placed cities like Houston under a moderate risk for severe thunderstorms. This means storms are expected to be widespread, intense and potential long lasting.
Storms on Sunday have the potential to produce destructive winds, very large hail and tornadoes. Hail will be large enough to dent cars, destroy windows and be potentially fatal to those caught outdoors without protection. Also, very heavy rain is expected to continue in areas that have already seen more than enough. The added rain is going to make flooding a b ig concern as well as we close out the weekend.
Storms have been sparking up already this morning b ut more are expected by mid-afternoon and move east into Louisiana later in the evening.
