A Look at Severe Weather Chances Across the Country into this Weekend
A few areas may see severe weather this evening, centered in the Middle Atlantic and Arizona. A slight risk for severe thunderstorms has been posted from the Storm Prediction Center for those areas. Brief strong wind gusts are the biggest concern, with low chances for a tornado.
A slow moving low pressure center and cold front will continue to create a few severe thunderstorms this evening, especially near Chesapeake Bay. As the low moves offshore into the Atlantic Ocean late tonight, the severe weather threat will diminish in the Middle Atlantic.
Monsoonal thunderstorms will develop across the Four Corners this evening. Isolated storms may become severe with strong wind gusts. Storms will quickly diminish after sunset.
A cold front dropping into the Western Great Lakes may produce some severe storms on Sunday, mainly in Wisconsin. Sunday has a few areas with a marginal severe weather risk.
