A Look at the Severe Weather Threat Tonight & This Weekend
Severe thunderstorms have been moving through the Midwest this afternoon and will continue tonight. An enhanced risk for severe storms extends from North Dakota to Indiana. A strong dome of high pressure continues to feed heat and humidity into the region. As upper level energy and surface systems crash into the hot and muggy air, severe storms have been firing.
The threat for tornadoes will diminish this evening, with high winds and large hail being the biggest risk tonight. Severe weather is still possible in the overnight with a wave of wind producing thunderstorms.
This weekend, the threat for severe weather extends from the Upper Midwest to the Middle Atlantic.
