Tropical Storm Matthew became a major hurricane Friday and is now a Category 4 hurricane.
Hurricane Matthew is currently a threat for Jamaica, Eastern Cuba, parts of Hispañola, and the Bahamas. These Islands should prepare this weekend as Matthew approaches early next week.
There is still a lot of uncertainty in whether the U.S will see potential impact from Matthew but if so, this will occur later next week.
There are many alerts currently in place including a Hurricane Watch that has been issued for Jamaica. A Hurricane Watch means that hurricane conditions are possible within the next 48 hours. Jamaica could begin to feel the effects of Matthew as early as Sunday night.
A tropical storm watch is in effect for the southern coast of Haiti. This means tropical storm conditions are possible within the watch area in the next 48 hours.
