Miami, Florida dropped to a temperature the city hadn’t seen for nearly two years.
Want to take a guess what it was (well, the title gives it away, doesn’t it)?
Yes, that’s right, Miami dropped below 50° on Tuesday morning for the first time in 687 days. The last time Miami residents had to deal with temperatures this low for the first time since January 24th, 2016, a nearly two-year stretch of consecutive temperatures at 50° or above. This set a new record. It also led to some patchy frost in some of Miami’s nearby suburbs on Tuesday morning, which isn’t nearly as common:
But for Miami, this is more of a comment on how warm it has been rather than how chilly Tuesday morning was. Miami often drops below 50° during the winter months, but the last two years have been remarkably warm in south Florida, with 10 of the last 12 months featuring above average overall months in Miami.
Maybe you can put the sweatshirt back in the closet for the next few days and bring back the bathing suit, though, as warmer, seasonable and beautiful weather remains in Miami and throughout south Florida into next week.
