New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu says that they are taking all of the proper precautions ahead of Tropical Storm Nate.
Mayor Landrieu and city officials held a press conference Thursday afternoon to give updates on what the city is doing to prepare.

Mayor Landrieu said that he is issuing a state of emergency ahead of the storm.

With the current track of the tropical storm, the local departments are beginning to execute emergency plans to ensure that they are prepared.
City crews are also working to make sure everything in the city is prepared.
Our first responders will be all hands on deck. They are staging high water vehicles, boats and barricades in strategic locations right now.

The New Orleans Police Department has pre staged 146 new barricades in flood-prone areas to prevent drivers from going into high water.
