Area of Interest in the Tropics … Named Storm in the E. Pacific

16 Aug 2022, 9:25 am

In the Atlantic, there is a new area of interest in the southern Caribbean. It has a 20% chance of development in the next 5 days. The tropical wave will move into the Bay of Campeche by this weekend, where some computer models are forming a low pressure center.

The long range tropical outlook from the Weather Prediction Center is highlighting the eastern Atlantic for potential development over the next week.

In the Eastern Pacific we have one system, Tropical Storm Ivette. The National Hurricane Center is issuing outlooks on this storm, but it is expected to stay over the open waters of the Eastern Pacific as it moves extremely slowly (2mph) to the west.
