New York City Marathon Weather – What To Expect

2 Nov 2017, 12:01 pm

The TCS New York City Marathon will take place this coming Sunday, November 5th, 2017 in New York City. As the largest marathon in the world, the NYC marathon has thousands of participants each year. With an event of this magnitude, weather is extremely important.

For instance, the marathon was actually cancelled in 2012 due to impacts from Superstorm Sandy. While it would not have been stormy on the day of the event, too many resources would likely be pulled away from Superstorm Sandy recovery efforts to support the event, so it was cancelled.

With that being said, what is forecast for this year’s marathon?

Outside of limited morning rain showers on Sunday, the forecast for the marathon looks pretty good.

On the Saturday before the race, temperatures in New York City will be in the upper 50s, with a mostly sunny sky. An approaching warm front will usher in clouds overnight and keep temperatures in the low 50s.
