No End to the Heavy Snow in the West

2 Feb 2017, 4:28 pm

Heavy snow continues to fall in the Western U.S., especially in the mountain ranges. Some freezing rain and sleet fell in a few areas earlier today, making for rough travel in some spots.

Much more moisture is on the way, with several feet of snow likely in the mountains. Heavy rain is possible in California, with 3″ to 6″ possible.

Winter Storm Alerts are numerous across the West due to the heavy snowfall expected. Travel will likely become difficult in many areas.

Jet Stream energy and moisture continues to move across the Pacific Ocean into the West. The first wave of energy with this system continues to move through the Tetons and Rockies. The second low will move toward the California Coast into tomorrow.

The endless train of rain and snow will push along the West Coast this weekend. The Cascades and Sierra will see significant snow once again.
