Norman Oklahoma Streets Flood after Severe Storms
Norman (KOKH) — For homeowners and tenants on College Avenue in Norman, street flooding is something they’re used to.
“I’ve lived here for so long, I knew it was going to flood,” Wade Best told Fox 25. Best had plastic bags tied around his feet as he walked through the ankle high waters.
“My pants got a little wet, but I just put on some plastic bags and it helps,” he said. “You’re feet aren’t as wet and my shoes are still good.”

Some cars were taking it slow through the waters, others gunning it (maybe a little faster than the speed limit) to see how far the side splash could go.
Others went with a less urban approach. Some fraternity brothers were spotted canoeing down one of the streets inside OU’s campus.
But it wasn’t all fun and games.
“It was hailing really hard,” Cassandra Metz said. “It was scary. We all got in the basement and prepared.”
And when it was over, she and another Delta Gamma sister threw on the rain boots and came out to play.
“It’s fun. It’s not every day the water gets up to your ankles.”
Not every day, but…
“About every year. It was pretty bad last year too,” she said.
Neighbors in the area say the drainage system needs some work. They expect the waters to recede by Saturday morning.
