A brush fire burning in the Oakland Hills, California area has caused power outages at the University of California, Berkeley. Students at the campus were also recommended to evacuate.
The school tweeted Wednesday afternoon that due to the fire, power will be lost across campus.

Police said that crews were being required to shut down transformers due to the nearby fire.

According to local television affiliates, the fire has burned between five and six acres.
No structures were said to be immediately threated in the area, but police told residents to shelter in place.
