Oppressive Heat Continues in the West
Temperatures continue to soar across with West and little end is in sight. Record highs were set in California on Sunday around San Francisco. Temperatures climbed above 110 degrees in several areas in the Southwest.
Excessive Heat Warnings and Heat Advisories continue across six states in the West through Thursday. The mercury may climb as high as 120 degrees in Blythe. Temperatures may hit 120 degrees also in Phoenix the next few days, which would be the first time in more than 20 years.
On Tuesday, triple digit heat will be felt as far north as Salt Lake City, Grand Junction, and Redding. Temperatures approaching 120 degrees in parts of Arizona are 15 to 20 degrees above average.
Little break from the heat is expected on Wednesday and Thursday. Interior sections of California will approach 110. Temps may drop a few degrees to 115 to 120 in parts of Arizona.
