Portland’s Wild Weather Roller Coaster Ride Continues
The City of Roses saw high temperatures well below normal when meteorological summer began. Back on June 2, the observed high temperature was only 62. The average high that day was 70. Just five days later, on June 7, Portland experienced the first of 24 days this summer with temperatures reaching at least 90 degrees.
It hasn’t just been an exceedingly hot summer in Portland this year, Oregon’s largest city has been on one of the country’s biggest weather roller coasters this summer. Eight times this summer, Portland’s high temperature has dropped eight degrees from one day to the next.
But the biggest drop of the summer is still yet to come.
When the latest heat wave breaks, Portland is forecast to drop a whopping 19 degrees from Wednesday to Thursday, by far the biggest one day drop in temperature for the entire summer. For those who live near the confluence of the Willamette and Columbia, the summer of 2015 will certainly be one to remember.
So if you venture outside during this latest heat wave, be sure to wear sunscreen, stay hydrated, and never leave anyone alone in an enclosed car.
