Did the Rain Dance Work? Showers and Thunderstorm Forecasted for California and Southwest

ca rain

Shower and thunderstorm chances are in the forecast across California and much of the Southwest through the rest of the week.

An upper-level trough, just to the west of Los Angeles, will migrate over the region through Friday. This will spin in beneficial moisture from the Pacific and also cool down the above normal temperatures that the area has been seeing.

With much of the rain seen across California on Thursday morning, the threat of these thunderstorms will shift eastward as we approach the end of the work week. This will give coastal and valley areas a lesser chance of seeing the much needed rain but a greater chance across the mountains and into the four corners region.

Rainfall totals could accumulate to a total of 2-5 inches in some isolated areas across the Desert Southwest by the end of the weekend. Flash Floods could also be a threat with some of these storms expected to be slow moving and heavy at times.
