Rare Full Moon On Display Monday Night

To help ring in summer, the moon will be putting a rare show in Monday’s night sky for a few reasons. Tonight’s full moon will be the first full moon on a June summer solstice since 1967.

The next time we could see a full moon on the summer solstice is June 21, 2062. This full moon will also be the fourth full moon between the March 2016 equinox and the June 2016 solstice, which usually only has three.

Don’t forget to check out the color! The moon will have a reddish hue, naming it a ‘strawberry moon’.
