Fire crews in Butte county, California are making progress on the Saddle Fire, which has burned 850 acres since it first started on Monday afternoon. As of Wednesday evening, the fire is 50% contained. The fire size has not increased over the last 24 hours, and significant progress has been made by the fire crews.
A total of 408 fire personnel and 18 fire crews have been working since the start of this fire. 30 fire engines, 5 helicopters, 7 dozers and 12 water tenders have assisted in the efforts.
Evacuations were put into place as 100 structures were threatened by the fire, but have since been lifted as of 6 p.m. this evening. Three structures were destroyed by this fire. The cause of this fire is still under investigation.
Residents are urged to use caution when traveling in the fire areas. Emergency equipment and personnel will be responding and working throughout the day and night.
