Serious Flooding Hits Pittsburgh Area

Late Wednesday evening, heavy rain drenched western Pennsylvania, including the Pittsburgh area and surrounding metro.

More than 2″ of rain fell across the region with another 1/4″ expected into the night. The heaviest rain is over and will taper off through the night.

 

The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning for a population of over half a million people in the area affected.

Officials reported multiple deep-water rescues in the area, but no injuries as of 10 pm local time.

Vehicles are still stuck in flood waters as of Wednesday night.

With many people seeking shelter from the rising water wherever they can.
