Severe Outbreak Possible Saturday
Before I get into the forecast for today…. I want to take a look back at yesterday:
Over 20 tornadoes were reported yesterday, click the image above to watch a storm chase from David Toner and Jason Blum near Willow Spring, Missouri.
It’s hard to see the tornado isn’t it… I have highlighted where I believe the cone is. This is called a HP Supercell, a High Precipitation Storm… or what I call a gungy tornado. Reminds me of the 10 February 2009 tornado I chased in Edmond, Oklahoma. I hate these types… they are so hard to see and are killers. When tornado warnings are issued, people want to go out side and look, but with a HP tornado, all you are going to get is wrapping curtains of rain, not the classic cone or funnel.
I believe today will dwarf Friday in tornado reports. Check out the High Risk issued for this afternoon:
Here is what the best severe weather forecasters in the world have to say about today (SPC Discussion)
THE SETUP ULTIMATELY MAY SUPPORT MULTIPLE CORRIDORS HAVING A POTENTIAL FOR STRONG TORNADOES FROM MUCH OF AR AND NRN MS NEWD INTO WRN/CNTRL TN...WRN/CNTRL KY AND PERHAPS SRN IL/SRN INDIANA TONIGHT/EARLY SUN.
So, if you know someone who lives in the area… they will be under the gun for a round of very severe weather later today and tonight.
