Severe Storms Could Develop Monday

4 Dec 2017, 10:18 am

Many of the country is being affected by one massive low pressure system. That same low is bringing blizzard conditions to the Northern Plains and also the threat of severe storms to the southern plains.

The main threat will be strong, damaging winds. Winds could gust up to 60 mph this afternoon and evening.

So what is causing these potential storms in early December? Well, it is all because of the clashing of two completely different systems. Out ahead of this cold front, warm, humid air is surging from the south. Many locations across the south and the Midwest are experiencing above average temperatures. Right behind the front though, air from Canada is being pushed down. Where these air masses collide, that is where we could see severe storms.
