Severe Weather Chances for Texas and Louisiana Wednesday

1 Nov 2017, 10:26 am

Parts of Texas and Louisiana could see some strong to severe thunderstorms Wednesday.  There is a marginal risk of severe for far southeast Texas and southwest Louisiana for the risk of damaging winds and isolated tornadoes.

Severe Set-Up

A weak cold front and upper-level trough will be moving into a warm and humid environment along the Gulf Coast and should generate a line of strong to severe thunderstorms Wednesday afternoon.  Scattered morning showers have helped to narrow down the risk area, but the threat for tornadoes and large hail will be with any storms that develop throughout the day.

Severe Weather Risks

Any storms that develop will have rotation which could lead to some isolated tornadoes and strong damaging winds.

The window for the any severe storms will be during the early afternoon.  Later in the day the storm chances will be much lower and any lingering showers should be pushing out of the region.

Next Severe Weather Risk

Another chance (and higher chance) of the severe weather arrives for the upcoming weekend.

Parts of Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan and Indiana will need to watch out for the potential of severe storms.  Right now it looks like Sunday will be the day with increasing severe weather chances.  Large hail, damaging winds and isolated tornadoes will all be possible.
