Severe Weather Possible in the Plains into the 4th
A brief tornado touched down earlier today in Arkansas and more severe thunderstorms are possible this evening. The area of biggest concern is in the Central Plains, focused mainly in Oklahoma where an enhanced risk is centered. Strong wind gusts above 60 mph are the biggest threat. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued from Southern Kansas to the Texas Panhandle, including Oklahoma City.

A cold front dropping into the region will help to fuel severe thunderstorms. With heat and humidity levels climbing to build instability, severe storms are possible this evening.
The chance for severe weather diminishes for Independence Day and Wednesday. There is a marginal risk both days in the Plains.
