Snow and Ice Continues to Fall in the Northeast

18 Jan 2017, 10:14 am

The slow moving, long lived ice storm continues to cause travel problems across the country. The system has made it into the Northeast and is weakening, but it is still producing snow and ice. Some areas have see up to 4″ of snow, with freezing rain reported as well. Advisories continue into the early afternoon.

As colder air is wrapping into the system, the freezing rain threat will diminish and mainly snow will be accumulating into Thursday. Another 3″ to 6″ of snow may fall, especially in the higher elevations.

As the low pressure center continues to head offshore and way from the region, snow will gradually come to an end. Lingering snow showers and flurries will continue mainly in New England into Thursday.
