More Snow on the Way for the Southeast

24 Feb 2015, 1:59 pm

The North Georgia Hills/Mountains saw some measurable snow early Tuesday morning. Farther south, travel was treacherous for early morning commuters into the Atlanta area as more of a mix of sleet and snow fell making for some icy conditions on major highways and interstates.

CaptureNow we shift our focus to another system bringing more moisture to the Southeast riding over these colder temps at the surface for yet again more snow.

2CaptureWe’ll likely see snow begin around Northern Louisiana early Wednesday morning, tracking into Central Mississippi and Alabama by the mid-to-late morning hours. Metro Atlanta can expect to see snow begin early in the afternoon extending into the rush hour time frame. All this moisture in the form of snow then ushers into the Southern Appalachians and Eastern Carolina by the evening hours and lingering into early Thursday morning.

3CaptureSnowfall totals range anywhere between 1-4 inches with slightly higher amounts likely for the North Georgia mountains and also south of Raleigh, North Carolina.

4CaptureBy late Thursday we are drying out and calming down with a return to more stable conditions for the end of the work week. Stay safe and stay warm!
