Solar Eclipse From Above? Here Are Eclipse Flights to Book
One airline will be offering flights to get passengers the best views of the total solar eclipse on August 21st.
Southwest Airlines will be offering five special flights on Monday, August 21st designed to grab unique views of the eclipse, the day of a rare total solar eclipse that will be visible across much of the country.
Three of the five flights will be leaving from Denver, Colorado, while another two (one from Portland, Oregon and another from Seattle, Washington) will also serve those hoping to get a glimpse of a rare feat.
Special glasses for safe viewing of the eclipse will be offered on the flight, along with what Southwest is calling “cosmic cocktails” as well.
Flights are actually still relatively affordable – one-way airfares on these flights started at $149, as of Wednesday evening.
Of course, the luxury of a plane going over clouds means passengers won’t have to stress about weather conditions for optimal viewing conditions!
The last coast-to-coast American total solar eclipse took place in 1918, and the next one isn’t expected until April of 2024. We’ll have continued coverage of the solar eclipse in the coming weeks, so stay tuned!
