Could the South See More Record Heat Friday?
If you live in the south, you’re used to not having the traditional fall. Lately though, you’ve really been feeling the heat. Day after day, cities have been setting new record highs.
Just Tuesday, both Amarillo and El Paso broke record highs.
Later this week, the jet stream pushes back north and allows southerly winds to return.
This means that warm, Gulf of Mexico air surges into the south allowing temperatures to climb once again into the 80s.
To start the weekend, mainly locations in Texas and Oklahoma will potential break record highs and temperatures will be around 20 degrees above average.
This blast of heat though will be quick. A cold front is set to move in for the first half of the week and return temperatures to normal.
