An area of low pressure in the Gulf of Mexico has caused a lot of problems this past weekend from Texas to Louisiana. Record rainfall occurred for many areas and is still possible the next couple of days. Because of all the rain, multiple water rescues happened over the weekend. Corsicana, Texas had the most rainfall with more than 20″ in just over a 24 hour period. Houston had a daily record rainfall on Saturday with more than 5.5″. Check out some of the other records from Saturday. On Sunday, New Orleans had a record daily rainfall of over 8.5″, beating the old record of 2.84″ set in 2002.
The rain continues along the Gulf of Mexico on Monday with 3″-5″ expected along the Gulf through Tuesday morning. This rain will continue to move northeast through Thursday bringing upwards of 3″-5″.
