State Of Emergency: Latest Timberon Fire Update
Today is day three of the Timberon Fire, and many in the area are still on edge. On Friday, fire officials said that the fire is now 16 percent contained and has burned nearly 260 acres. Governor Martinez declared a state of emergency Friday, which will enable the county to retrieve the additional resources needed to help with this emergency.
WeatherNation field correspondent Ben McMillan got an aerial view of the fire Friday courtesy of Ed’s Flying Service. McMillan said, “some residents only had a few minutes to evacuate.” More than 60 structures have been destroyed by the fire that started Wednesday afternoon in Timberon. At least 31 of those are residential homes. “It’s a devastating loss for the people of Timberon,” concluded McMillan.
