Strong Winds and Red Flag Warnings for Montana and Wyoming Tuesday

17 Oct 2017, 12:15 pm

An area of low pressure moving across Alberta Wednesday will bring strong winds to Montana and Wyoming.  Wind speeds could gust over 70 mph, especially along the Rocky Mountain Front and then spread east across north central Montana.  Out ahead of a cold front temperatures will be warmer than average and when you factor in some very dry air the fire weather conditions will be high.

Wind Advisories and High Wind Warnings are in effect across Washington, Montana and Wyoming.  Wind speeds could be gusting over 60 mph throughout Tuesday afternoon.

The strong winds, low humidity and warm temperatures will lead to some high fire conditions across Montana and Wyoming.  Red Flag Warnings are in effect through Tuesday evening. A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire conditions are happening or will happen shortly.

Here are some safety tips to help prevent wildfires.
