Summer Solstice Arrives Monday
The summer solstice arrives on Monday, but what exactly is it? The summer solstice is the day we experience the most amount of sunlight, which is approximately 17 hours. During summer solstice, the northern polar tilt of our planet’s polar hemisphere is closest to the sun. While Monday will be the longest day for those of us who live in the northern hemisphere, on the flip side, it will be the shortest day of the year for those in the southern hemisphere. The summer solstice in the southern hemisphere is on December 22nd, which is our winter solstice in the northern hemisphere. While it may be depressing that the days will now be getting shorter after Monday, there is still plenty of summer left.
