Summer’s Heat in the High Plains, California, & Mid Atlantic

14 Jul 2017, 10:21 am

The heat of Summer is being felt in the High Plains, Mid Atlantic and interior sections of California today. A strong ridge of high pressure is contributing to the increase in temperature, especially west of the Mississippi River.

An Excessive Heat Warning continues Central Montana, with a Heat Advisory eastward into Central North Dakota. The mercury will climb to near the century point in many areas today, and drop only slightly Saturday.

Several areas in California, especially interior sections, will see high temperatures in the 90s and 100s today. Heat Advisories have been issued for the Antelope Valley, Los Angeles Mountains, Santa Cruz Mountains, Santa Lucia Mountains, East Bay Hills and the Diablo Range.

Parts of the Middle Atlantic will see warm temperatures today. Highs will climb into the middle to upper 90s, but with high humidity, the heat index will soar into the triple digits.
