The ridge of high pressure out west brought record heat to several locations Wednesday. Cities like Reno, Nevada set a new record for the day. Reno’s old record high was 68 degrees set back in 1981. The new record: 70 degrees!
Record highs could be found anywhere from California and Arizona to as far north as Oregon and Montana.
The jet stream pattern will shift by this weekend though as a trough of low pressure settles in over the Great Basin. This will bring colder air to many areas out west that enjoyed mild/warm conditions throughout the work week.
