Thousands Ride Across Iowa

26 Jul 2016, 4:27 pm

RAGBRAI is an acronym and registered trademark for the Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa, which is a non-competitive bicycle ride organized by The Des Moines Register and going from west to east across the U.S. state of Iowa, that draws recreational riders from across the United States and many foreign countries.

This year, the excessive heat scared some riders away, and possibly the location this year. Each year, the route changes from northern Iowa to southern Iowa. This year, the route travels across most of southern Iowa, which is a hilly terrain. Sargent Scott Bright with the Iowa State Patrol said on Monday, that nearly 18,000 riders were counted.

The weather will finish out strong the remainder of the week, as temperatures will be in the 80’s, with low humidity.
