Three Different PDS Tornado Watches Issued
There are now three different Particularly Dangerous Situation (PDS) tornado watches out across the Southeastern US.
The first PDS tornado watch has been issued for central Florida until 10pm EST. A line of supercell thunderstorms over the Gulf of Mexico will track eastward across central Florida late this afternoon and evening, posing a risk of tornadoes and damaging wind gusts. Strong tornadoes ARE possible. Along with the risk of several tornadoes, widespread damaging wind gusts to 70-mph will be likely, with large hail up to 1.5 inches in diameter.
The second PDS tornado watch has been issued for southern South Carolina, and portions of eastern Georgia, which will be in effect until 10pm EST. Intense supercell thunderstorms over central Georgia will track eastward across the watch area late this afternoon and evening. Strong tornadoes and damaging winds are possible with the strongest cells. Scattered damaging wind gusts up to 75-mph will be possible, with hail up to 1.5 inches in diameter.
The third PDS tornado watch has been issued for central Georgia and northern Florida until 8pm EST. An outbreak of severe storms and tornadoes is expected to unfold over the watch area this afternoon. Storms currently over Alabama and the Florida panhandle will track rapidly northeastward, posing a risk of long-track significant tornadoes and widespread damaging winds. Scattered damaging wind gusts up to 80-mph will be possible.
