Top Weather Stories for Wednesday, December 6, 2017

6 Dec 2017, 7:07 am

Here is a look at some of the big weather stories we’re following today on-air and online.

California Wildfires

Wildfires continue to impact California where a state of emergency has been issued.  Over 50,000 acres have burned and we will likely be adding more to those numbers.  Keep checking with WeatherNation for the latest updates!

West Texas Snow

Hard to believe we are talking about this in Texas, but snow chances are in the forecast.   It will be mainly confined to west Texas where 1 to 3 inches of snow will be possible.  This chance for snow will create hazardous travel conditions, especially on bridges and overpasses.

Heavy Rain for the Gulf Coast

Heavy rain in the forecast for the Gulf Coast over the next few days.  The potential for a changeover to wintry weather will be possible late in the week.

Well Below Normal Temperatures in the South

The cold front that is bringing the heavy rain to the Gulf Coast will also be bringing some well below normal temperatures for the south.  Highs in Houston, TX will only reach 46°!
