A brief tornado has reportedly touched down — around 11:30 a.m. local time — in the south Georgia town of Valdosta, doing damage in an industrial area just south of the downtown area and injuring seven people.
According to the Valdosta Daily Times, four of the injures were severe enough to required medical care at a local hospital.
“We had four patients from the incident, and they’re all currently in good condition. That co-triage has been terminated at this point, so everyone’s doing good,” Erika Bennett, with South Georgia Medical Center, told the Valdosta Daily Times.
The tornado appears to have touched down at the Langdale Industries woodyard. Two or three of the buildings on the business’ property were reportedly mangled and images from social media show overturned cars and sheet metal wrapped around posts.
