Tornadoes Sweep Through Indiana Monday

11 Jul 2017, 3:53 pm

Multiple tornadoes were reported in north central Indiana on Monday, July 10th, as deluges of rain closed roads in several counties, due to rainfall of nearly 4 inches. Numerous roads flooded south of Indianapolis, while a retail center along U.S. 31 in the northern suburb of Westfield was closed because of possible roof damage.

The National Weather Service has confirmed tornadoes hit Monday evening in rural areas outside Logansport and Peru, Indiana. Both tornadoes were rated EF-1 tornadoes with winds about 90 mph, causing mainly crop and tree damage.

Local media reported widespread damage in the north central Indiana area following the severe weather, including localized flooding, downed power lines, and road closures. The following video was shot south of Logansport in Cass County and shows the EF-1 tornado sweeping through a rural area.
