Tough Travel in the High Plains
Heavy snow and even blizzard conditions are expected for Christmas and the day after for much of the high plains. A foot to a foot and a half of wind driven snow will make travel difficult, if not impossible until the storm moves out on Monday. Blizzard warnings are in effect for parts of Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Minnesota for Sunday into Monday.
An ice storm warning has also been issued for parts of North Dakota, South Dakota, and Minnesota until Monday morning with up to a quarter of an inch of ice accumulations expected. Conditions will improve from the west with snow tapering off a little through Montana Sunday but a strong surface low pressure system will track across the Dakota’s making travel tough through midday on Monday.
