TROPICAL STORM EMILY Forms Near the West Coast of Florida
The latest in tropical developments brings us down to the sunshine State. No stranger to tropical cyclones. Florida is bracing for the impacts of what is now Tropical Storm Emily.
The National Hurricane Center found enough information to classify this system as a tropical storm early Monday morning.
With the close proximity this system is to land, we are not expecting Emily to strengthen much, if any. The main impacts that will be felt will be the heavy rains. Upwards of more than a half a foot of rain could fall in portions of the state through Thursday.
The National Hurricane Center has Emily crossing over the state of Florida through Monday and Tuesday will heavy rain moving from west to east. Impacts will be felt across the Georgia and Carolina coasts through the end of the week with rip currents and high surf being a big concern through Friday.
