Tropical Depression Seventeen Forms in the Atlantic

9 Oct 2017, 7:52 am

Early Monday morning, Tropical Depression Seventeen formed in the Atlantic.

As of Monday morning, winds are at 35 mph with gusts up to 45. Movement wise, well, the system isn’t moving too fast.

The National Hurricane Center has it strengthening to a Tropical Storm as it takes a counterclockwise turn in the Atlantic. Strengthening is expected later Monday or Monday night. The system is expected to move faster once an upper-level trough moves through and aids the system with it’s eastward progression.

If the system strengthens to a Tropical Storm, which it likely will by the end of Monday, it will be named “Ophelia.”

The good news is that there is strong conscience that, what now is Tropical Depression Seventeen, will stay far away from any land.
