Tropical Low Over Florida Likely to Develop

Heavy rain and strong winds are battering areas from Florida to South Carolina as a tropical low has settled in over the region. As of Tuesday evening, the low was located near St. Augustine, FL and was moving north toward Jacksonville, FL at 10-15 mph.


The National Hurricane Center has given this tropical low a 70 percent chance of developing within the next 48 hours. The main impacts from this low will be felt along the coastal areas and the Intra-Coastal Waterway. There is a threat for isolated tornadoes Tuesday night. Heavy rain will also bring a flooding threat to the area. Widespread totals of 3-6 inches are expected with isolated rain amounts of 10 inches possible.



Article2Wind Advisories are also in effect from Daytona Beach, FL to Brunswick, GA. Sustained winds of 25-35 mph are likely with gusts up to 50 mph. Along the beaches, expect high surf conditions and possible beach erosion.
