Madeline will continue to move in a west southwest direction as it passes south of the Big Island. While the center of Madeline will not make landfall, strong winds and heavy rain on the northern side of the system will continue to impact the Big Island this afternoon and tonight.
Tropical storm force winds continue over portions of the Big Island and winds are expected to peak this afternoon and evening before starting to subside. Some areas could see winds as high as 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 50 mph. Flash flooding and mudslides will also be a threat, as locally heavy rain will be associated with outer rainbands.
