Tropical Storm Warnings Posted for Louisiana for Possible Cindy
Tropical Storm warnings have been posted for coastal Louisiana in advance of what’s likely to become Tropical Storm Cindy in the Gulf of Mexico in the next 12 hours.
Warnings stretch for most of the Louisiana coastline. Tropical Storm watches are in place for far southeast Texas and the remainder of the Louisiana coast.
While no tropical storm has formed yet in the Gulf of Mexico, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) in Miami, Florida has started issuing watches and warnings for tropical systems in advance of formal development in an effort to offer additional warning time if a storm is likely to develop.
Heavy rain is expected to be the primary impact from this storm, especially east of the center. First impacts will be felt on Tuesday before the bulk of the storm arrives Wednesday, then moving inland late Wednesday and into Thursday.
