Two Tornados Confirmed in New York This Week

The National Weather Service in Binghamton, NY has confirmed a tornado touched down North of Canandaigua, NY Wednesday night.

The tornado had winds from 60 to 70 mph which is in the range of EF-0 strength. The tornado hit about 2 miles northeast of Padelford, which is near the Shortsville Road and County Route 28 intersection. The tornado was responsible for toppling 600-pound gravestones in a cemetery and knocking down a barn in Farmington.

This is the second tornado that has touched down in New York this week. An EF-0 also tornado touched down in Scotia, NY on Tuesday, bringing with it winds estimated to be 80 mph based on the damage survey. There were also many reports of trees down, which were determined to be from straight-line winds.
