Warmer Than Normal Temperatures in the South Thursday and Friday

2 Nov 2017, 10:29 am

It won’t be feeling like fall in the deep south over the next few days.  Warmer than normal temperatures are in the forecast Thursday for Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas.  Forecast highs will be anywhere from 10-20° above normal and record highs will be possible in parts of Texas.

Why is it so Warm?

The jet stream is retreating back to the north on Thursday and Friday.  As this happens, warmer temperatures will start to build back over the south and even out in the eastern U.S..  Afternoon highs will be 10-20° warmer than normal for both Thursday and Friday.  Parts of Texas should continue to experience the warm air through the weekend.

It doesn’t look like there will be a big cool down anytime soon for cities like Dallas, Houston or San Antonio.
