“You are paddleboarding next to approximately 15 great white sharks”
Not something you want to hear when you are having a leisurely day at the beach.
A helicopter video shot from an Orange County Sheriff’s Department gives an aerial view of great white sharks near Capistrano Beach.
“You are paddleboarding next to approximately 15 great white sharks” said Deputy Brian Stockbridge over the helicopter loudspeaker. “They are advising you exit the water in a calm manner. The sharks are as close as the surfline.”
The sighting occurred while shark advisories were in place in the region.
According to local reports, later that evening, another group of great white sharks was spotted more than 50 miles north of Orange County, off the coast of Long Beach. Long Beach Fire Department issued a shark advisory, warning all beach goers to enter the beach “at their own risk.”
