WATCH: This Is Why You Should Avoid Boardwalks in Big Storms
We here at WeatherNation try and practice and preach safety above all else, particularly in big storms.
During hurricanes, tropical storms and other kinds of big weather events, however, a small handful of people always seem to insist on trying to catch a glimpse of Mother Nature at her most ferocious self in dangerous, if not straight-up stupid positions.
Take this example from Aberystwyth, Wales, located on Great Britain’s west coast. As Post-Tropical Cyclone Ophelia, a Category 3 hurricane now transitioning to a cold-core system, lashed the United Kingdom and Ireland on Monday, a handful of curious folk took to the local boardwalk to check out the massive waves caused by the storm.

Standing on the boardwalk in this situation is not smart.
As far as we know, everyone in this video is OK, but three people have died in Ireland due to the storm.
Let this video serve as a reminder to stay indoors and avoid putting yourself in harm’s way during storms.
