In just 16 hours, nearly nine inches of rain fell in parts of Jacksonville, Florida’s beach cities. Flooding was widespread through the region as rain continued Sunday into Monday morning.

The police department responded to several stranded cars and numerous streets remained impassable Monday morning due to the flooding.

Emergency managers reported several apartment buildings were impacted by the rising waters. The Red Cross set up service centers Sunday night, but closed them when no one showed up.

In the video, you can see a local motel under three feet of water. You can also see where water threatened popular oceanfront restaurants and shopping areas.
