Do you have plants in your house? If not, you might want to consider getting some.
“Most people do not know the benefits of having plants in their homes,” says Tara Montgomery, a plant expert.
Montgomery says plants filter toxins from the air and can even keep your house up to ten degrees cooler.
“I had no idea that plants, a live plant, could keep you cool,” said Lisa Holm.
It’s called transpiration, basically your plants sweat, that sweat evaporates and evaporation is a cooling process.
Montgomery says large house plants like ficus trees and the areca palm trees are best, but the climbing plant, pothos and ferns are also perfect for your home.
“If you just have one plant, you’re probably not going to notice, but if you have eight or ten plants, you will definitely notice a decrease in the temperature,” said Montgomery.
So, if you’re looking for an inexpensive way to keeping your home cooler, add some plants.
