The phenomenon known as a “Haboob” hit Phoenix, Arizona Sunday evening. The dust storm looked liked it almost blackout the city, lowering visibility to less than a quarter of a mile. Sky Harbor Airport had to delay 16 flights with an average delay time of near 50 minutes.
Haboobs typically occur in arid or semi-arid climates like Phoenix, Arizona. In North America, most are a result of a collapsing thunderstorms sending out gusty winds.
