Watch: Tornado Outbreak Hits Illinois
Throughout the evening hours Tuesday, a large line of thunderstorms swept across the states of Missouri, Illinois, and Iowa. There were two main threats involved with these thunderstorms which were large hail and tornados.
According to NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center, six tornadoes had been spotted and all were reported earlier in the day. Most of the tornado reports were in western Illinois where significant property damage has been confirmed.
The tornado touchdowns in Illinois were reported in the cities of Hancock, McDonough, Rock Island, Sangamon, and Peoria. Hail as large as 2.75” was reported in Alexander, IL along with a 2.50” hail size confirmed in St. Patrick, MO. In the next day NOAAs survey team will be out in full force to assess damages.
